UPDATE AUGUST 2020
We hope you and family are all keeping well.
Following yesterday’s announcement by the Minister of Education, Peter Weir, all of our pupils will return to school five days a week from Tuesday 1 September. The pupil split we had previously organised will allow us to have a phased return that week of the 24th August. During these small group/shorter day sessions staff will focus on the pastoral and wellbeing needs of the pupils and will teach, practice and embed the new hygiene and class bubble routines. You will be reminded of what group your child/family is in and the timings of those transition days via Teachers2Parents text service next week.
Please note: these groupings could also come into effect if increased social distancing is needs to be implemented at any stage of the school year.
Taking this new directive into account, I want to assure you that the staff of St. Francis’ Primary School will do their very best to keep our children safe and provide a secure learning environment, where they will be nurtured. Before coming back to school, it is important to explain to your son or daughter that they will not mix with children outside of their own class group. The classes will work, play and eat in their groups.
The last few months have been difficult for everyone. Please be patient with us as we roll out our ‘Back to School’ restart programme. Information is due with us from the Department of Education next week. We cannot pass this information on to you, until we receive it. In the meantime, keep safe and please pass on our best wishes to all our children.
We look forward to seeing them very soon!
Miss O’Dowd and all the staff at St. Francis’ Primary, Nursery and Bunscoil Naomh Proinsias.
