Dear Parents & Guardians
Update to PHA Self-Isolation Guidance
We were formally advised late on Friday evening that the self-isolation period following notification of a positive test result or contact with a positive COVID-19 case will reduce from 14 days to 10 days.
This is effective from Monday 14 December. This means that for those pupils currently in self-isolation, from Monday 14th that means it now ends at day 10. Any pupils currently self-isolating beyond day 10 must continue to self-isolate until Monday even if they have passed day 10.
This will be welcome news for all parents of isolating children in all of the affected classes at St. Francis’PS and our Bunscoil. Therefore, we welcome all isolating children back to school on Tuesday 15th December.
Rang 3 and Rang 7 Remote Learning
Due to issues outside of our control, our Rang 3 class will continue with remote learning for the remainder of the term and Rang 7 will commence remote learning tomorrow, Monday 14th, for the remainder of the term. Their teachers will make contact with you through the usual Seesaw channels. We have tried our best to get sub cover for these classes but given that we already have 14 fantastic substitute teachers working in our school we have our fair share of available teachers. We have stretched our staff, both teaching and non-teaching, to the limit these last two weeks with 31 staff out due to Covid, track and trace and other sickness. We cannot safely stretch any further.
If Covid continues to take its toll on our teaching and non-teaching staff I will be in touch, on a class by class basis, to inform you of the need to make alternative arrangements to allow for remote learning.
We are aware many of you have chosen the option of learning at home in the coming week. Please inform your class teacher via Seesaw, if you haven’t already done so, if your child will be returning to school or will be engaging in remote learning in the run up to Christmas. We support the difficult decisions that our parents make in the run up to Christmas and will do our best to meet all the varying needs, whether in or out of school this week.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
